NIH Grants Heavily Concentrated in Small Number of Congressional Districts

National Institute of Health (NIH) grants are heavily concentrated in a small number of congressional districts. More than 50 percent of grant dollars issued in 2024 went to only 20 congressional districts, all of which were represented by Democrats. Two-thirds of NIH grants went to 37 congressional districts of which only two were represented by Republicans.
